COVID-19 Dashboard

radar image

All confirmed positive COVID-19 incidents related to Gravenstein Union School District (GUSD) sites and offices will be posted to this page. For the purposes of this dashboard, GUSD is distinguishing between school-based cases and community-based cases.

  • GUSD cases

a. GUSD cases will potentially impact individuals' health and wellness at our school or office because there may be site-related exposure OR a positive case was on campus during an infectious period

b. a school-based case MAY cause classroom closure or other precautionary measures

c. we will follow the Sonoma County Guidelines around isolating and notifying close contacts, as needed

  • Known "C.B." Community-Based cases:

a. community-based cases DO NOT impact individuals' health and wellness at our school or office because no one at the site was in close contact with the positive individual during the infectious period. Per the CDC definition, this means no one at the site was within 6 feet of the infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the patient was isolated

b. this dashboard will include all known community-based cases related to GUSD; this dashboard may not reflect all community-based cases involving our staff and students because GUSD relies on notification from public health or self-reporting from staff or families

c. we will include any confirmed cases that we are aware of if the person was physically present on campus during their infectious period, such as for a materials exchange or other event

d. we will follow the Sonoma County Guidelines around isolating the positive case, as needed

The Dashboard is updated at least once a week and when we are notified of confirmed cases.

Gravenstein Union School District                  COVID-19 Surveillance Testing Data

GUSD has been providing weekly surveillance testing for all students and staff that are regularly on campus on 12/7/20.  Beginning on 3/15/21, we began collecting samples from students that were scheduled to return for in-person instruction.  The information below provides the historical results of our testing and will serve as a way for parents to monitor test results as we return to in-person instruction.  This surveillance testing process is one of the many actions we are taking to ensure a healthy and safe return to in-person instruction for our students and staff.  For every positive result, the individuals and the health department were notified, contract tracing was conducted to determine any needed additional notifications for close contacts and campus disinfection.

We have two companies assisting us in collecting and testing samples.  One company, RTW, has helped us develop our sample collection process, schedule, assigns a barcode to each individual's name, and helps us interpret results.  RTW does not test samples.  We send the samples to a second company, Mirimus Labs, who then tests the samples for traces of the COVID-19 virus.  Mirimus has only barcodes on the samples, no names, so they do not know the identity of any person that has submitted a saliva sample for testing.  If a sample is identified as positive for the COVID-19 virus, Mirimus informs RTW of the barcode associated with that sample, and then RTW notifies GUSD.  We then follow the Sonoma County Department of Health Services protocols for contact tracing, reporting, and quarantine directives.
